Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure central to evaluating infertility and preparing for IVF. Our specialists pass a hysteroscope , a thin, lighted tube fitted with a camera through the cervix to inspect the endometrium, the uterus’s inner lining, directly and in real time.
This direct view lets us diagnose and treat polyps, fibroids, and uterine adhesions that can quietly interfere with conception. By confirming and correcting the uterine environment ahead of treatment, hysteroscopy improves the odds that an embryo implants successfully.
Typical timing: hysteroscopy is usually performed before a fertility treatment cycle begins, so any uterine issue can be addressed while there’s still time to act on it.
In addition to diagnosing uterine conditions, this procedure also treats them. It can remove polyps, correct uterine septums (Septate Uterus), and address other uterine issues and scar tissue. Both diagnostic and operative hysteroscopies are performed through the cervix, eliminating the need for abdominal incisions.
This procedure involves using a thin camera to visualize uterine abnormalities, such as polyps or fibroids. There are two primary methods:
.
Benign growths that can interfere with embryo implantation and cause abnormal bleeding.
Noncancerous tumors that can distort the shape of the uterine cavity and reduce fertility.
Scar tissue (Asherman’s Syndrome) that can affect menstruation, fertility, and embryo implantation.
A fibrous or muscular septum divides the uterus — often corrected to improve conception and lower miscarriage risk.
Thickening of the uterine lining, which can cause abnormal bleeding and hinder embryo implantation.
If you’re considering IVF or fertility care, our team can walk you through whether hysteroscopy is part of your path forward and what comes next.
